The door sill scuff plates get beat up quite a bit and you may want to refinish them or even replace them. I’ve wanted carbon fiber ones for a long time, and I’ve finally gotten them thanks to ECPS! The pair of carbon fiber door sill scuff plates from ECPS weigh 4 lbs (1.87 kg) less than the original aluminum ones from Aston Martin. It may not seem like much, but weight loss adds up! This DIY Guide shows how to remove the door sill scuff plates if you want to replace or refinish them.

Needed

Door sill scuff plates (optional)
Door sill plaques (optional)
Philips-head screwdriver
5mm Allen key
About 15 minutes

STEP 1

Use the Philips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the door sill scuff plate plaque in place, then remove the plaque.

Note: Use a slightly larger screwdriver than you think you need. These screws are easy to strip!

Step 2

Use the 5mm Allen key to remove the six bolts holding the door sill scuff plate in place, then remove the scuff plate.

Step 3

Follow the steps above in reverse order for reassembly, installing new parts instead of the originals if you’re replacing them.

And that’s it!
