Ambient Air Temperature Sensor

These sensors aren’t a common point of failure, but they can and do go bad. It’s easy to see when it happens because the outside air temperature reading displayed in your car will be way off from what it actually is. For example, if you know it’s 95F (35C) outside but the car is saying it’s 41F (5C), then you’ve got a bad Ambient Air Temperature Sensor.

It’s easy to replace the sensor, which is located just under the leading edge of the radiator shroud/slam panel.
