I'm happy to say that things are getting back on track. I've been getting orders of my long-overdue Exterior Lighting products shipped out. If you paid via a custom invoice that was sent to you, please email me and let me know! I’m going through old invoices to search for those that include these items, but feel free to notify me as well. I've also gotten things sorted with the manufacturer so the supply of these will be steady and ongoing. Once pre-orders get fulfilled, I’ll still continue to get more and more of these as I’m able so I can start stocking them on the shelves like I do with so much other stuff.
Getting these lighting products sorted has the biggest relief I've had in ages and is going to allow me to get back to building Redpants and Redpants Unzipped. Another thing I did to help with the building effort was selling my red 2007 V8 Vantage. That’s right, the car has been sold.
That’s the last picture I took of it, with my grey V8 Vantage sitting alone in the garage.
I absolutely loved that car. It was just so damn pretty. But, letting it go lets me invest in my other projects. The car was picked up by its new owner Wednesday night. It was hard to stand there in my driveway and watch it go, but damn it looked and sounded amazing as it went off into distance. The car went to a good home and I wish Jay all the best. I’ll be consolidating all my plans for that car into my grey one, and those plans will unfold as I’m able to get to them. Some of those plans are already in the works and I’m really excited to see how they turn out.
I’ve been working 16+ hour days between my day job, Redpants, and Redpants Unzipped for a couple months now, and it’ll continue for quite a while. I’ve been ramping up my efforts on Unzipped, and I’m really excited to start launching portions of it as they’re ready.
Those of you that have followed Redpants for a while have probably noticed that I’ve “closed” shop when I travel - the online store is still up and running but orders don’t ship until I get back from my trip. Although I plan to do a lot more traveling this year (and going forward), orders being held until my return shouldn’t be an issue as I’ll have someone covering those shipments for me.
Also, I don’t consider those trips to be vacations. Far from it, in fact. I’m actually working the whole time I’m there as far as I’m concerned. It’s all part of a bigger project and it’ll all make sense soon enough.
I get told quite often that I’m the reason someone has bought an Aston Martin, or kept theirs instead of selling it, or was able to love a problematic car after repeated repair attempts. I’ve had several people say, “I was able to buy my dream car because of you.” Knowing I have that kind of impact on people? Holy shit. I don’t even know what to say. I’m at a loss for words.
But we aren’t just about the cars. There’s more to it than the cars themselves, and I’m going to make that just as attainable as owning an Aston Martin. I want to do more than connect people with cars. I want to connect people with the world.
Redpants Tech Day - Austin
Thank you to everyone that's emailed and expressed interest in the upcoming Redpants Tech Day in Austin! If you haven't seen it yet, check out my last blog post for information about the event. I'm still waiting for final pricing from Aston Installations for the upgrades they offer. Once I have that, I'll be able to post a full list of options along with a signup form to have those installed.
We're also putting together a small road rally for the day prior. It'll be a fun little drive through Austin's hill country with a stop for lunch. I'll have information for that as well for anyone interested in joining.
The Sale is Ending!
I put some things on sale in my online store the last time I went out of town. I ran out of some stuff that takes time to restock, so I said I’d keep the sale going until the new inventory arrives. Well, earlier today I got notice that the inventory has shipped out. If you haven’t taken advantage of the sale, do it quickly because it’ll be ending as soon as those shipments arrive!
My parents flew into Tampa last night and are visiting for the weekend. It's my first time seeing them in three years. I've gotten orders out but I'm not looking at emails or anything else much so I can spend time with my parents.
They’ve gone to bed so I’m taking a little time to write this blog post before cashing out for the night myself. Which is why this blog post is so short. So short, in fact, that it’s now over.
