Hello, everyone! Welcome to my very first blog entry which isn't much more than an introduction to what I have in store for Redpants. (If you're wondering about the name, check out the About Me section.)
The main things to look for on Redpants are the DIY guides, the blog entries, the gallery, and of course the shop! I'm busy at work on the rest of the site so I'll try to keep this short and sweet.
These are probably going to be the bread and butter of what draws people to Redpants. Aston Martin isn't too great at documenting everything regarding their cars. This includes everything from their workshop manuals to their random mid-generation updates. I should note here that this is something that can make a job very difficult for a technician, and often a nightmare for a DIYer. But don't be too scared. I'll do my best to detail a number of tasks that any owner with basic mechanical skills can handle. I even list the tools needed and provide pictures (and now video!) to guide you through it. Of course, if you aren't sure you can handle a job, take it to a certified mechanic! Aston's techs are very good at what they do and definitely earn their pay. The DIY guides are meant to help tackle a job, but I'm not responsible for anything you do to your car, yourself, or anything else.
I've learned a lot about Aston Martin during my ownership of my '07 V8 Vantage and there's much I have yet to learn. Admittedly, I know very little about the company's heritage compared to most 'traditional' Aston enthusiasts. I'll use a cop-out here and say it's because I'm younger than the typical Aston owner and I tend to focus on the performance aspects of the cars rather than the details of the company's rather interesting past. Having said that, I've got a great story I'll be sharing in an upcoming blog post about my trip to Gaydon for Aston's 100th anniversary! And, to keep things interesting, I'll have guest contributors from time to time that will share stories and commentary of their own.
I'm very fortunate to know a few extremely talented automotive photographers. One of them, Austin Neff, is the whiz behind VASupercars. Much of the photography found on Redpants is his work. I'll be using the Gallery to host the work of Austin and others. If you're interested in having them shoot your car or if you want to order prints, please reach out to them and support their work.
I've put a lot of time, effort, and money into Redpants, and I want to keep it completely ad free. Hopefully the shop makes it all worthwhile! Please check the terms and conditions for the sale of the products listed there. I'll be adding new products as I develop them, so stay tuned for those. If you have any questions, just ask!
