Straight to the point with that title, eh? Well, I need to get your attention somehow! But don't worry, this isn't clickbait. Far from it. This is a chance to win an Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT Roadster in a raffle with entries starting at only $10!
What is it?
The raffle is being run by a company called Omaze. They host these fundraisers to raise money and awareness for various causes. They're good at it, too, which is why a number of celebrities have signed up with them to run fundraisers for charities and organizations that they support. Daniel Craig is one of those celebrities. He's a spokesman for the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), a group that goes to conflict zones and former conflict zones to remove landmines and other unexploded ordnance. He's teamed up with Aston Martin and Omaze to raise money and awareness for UNMAS by raffling off an Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT Roadster. The winner gets the car, plus gets to meet Mr Craig himself.
Why should you join?
Your contribution supports the removal of extremely dangerous explosives, helping prevent their accidental detonation by unsuspecting, innocent men, women, and children. I did some quick research to see just how many people are affected by this, and the numbers are just staggering. I had expected in the range of hundreds or thousands. In fact, it's far worse than that. It's in the order of tens or hundreds of thousands, and many of those wounded or killed are children.
So not only are you supporting a worthy cause, you're also entering to win a very expensive car for very little money. And that money going to the raffle is tax-deductible, so you can write it off when the time comes. Doing a good deed by helping UNMAS plus a tax deduction plus a chance to win an Aston? There's no reason not to enter!
What's my involvement?
I'm not getting anything out of this aside from the warm n' fuzzy of helping a cause that I believe in (UNMAS in this case, not Aston Martin lol). I was in the Marine Corps for five years and deployed to Iraq, so I've seen the ravages of war first-hand. It's bad enough that people have to live through a war, and the constant persisting danger of landmines and unexploded ordnance makes the nightmare continue.
A producer from Omaze contacted me to ask if I'd be interested in helping spread the word about the raffle. After a chat about Omaze and the raffle, and a little digging to see what it was about, I happily agreed. While I'm a pretty small fish in a vast automotive / charity / social media pond, every bit of exposure does help a cause like this.
If you still aren't sure, here's Daniel Craig with some puppies.
I've added a few more items to the online store:
-OEM Brembo brake rotors
-Porterfield R4-S and R4 brake pads for the 6-piston front calipers
-Navigation screen gear repair kits
-Front valance for pre-facelift V8 Vantages
I've also got some really awesome stuff in the works, so keep an eye on Redpants!
